Justice O.P. Pradhan honours Rishi Mishra with Gold Medal

Lucknow.  Reflecting on his achievements and experiences as a student of the 2012-17 batch of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow, Rishi Mishra said, “I am reviewing my university journey after the convocation. It was a historic moment when our university held this much-awaited convocation after a long gap of nine years.

I am extremely happy that I was awarded the Justice O.P. Pradhan Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in Criminal Law. This honour is a symbol of the unparalleled guidance and academic support of my university professors and mentors. Their support and dedication played a vital role in enriching my academic and professional journey.

During my university, I participated in many moot court competitions, which not only strengthened my advocacy skills but also instilled in me a keen interest in legal studies. It was a matter of immense pride for me to have won the South Asian regional rounds of the Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition held in Tehran, Iran in 2014 and the Best Memorial award at the Hong Kong Red Cross and ICRC IHL Moot Court Competition held in Hong Kong in 2015 and subsequently to have received so much love and respect from the faculty and students of the university.

I am particularly grateful to my professors and colleagues whose guidance and support were instrumental in my university journey. Their teachings created an environment where intellectual fervour could flourish, and I developed my skills both personally and professionally.

Currently, I am practising as an advocate in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court. I am also serving as a legal consultant in the Law Commission of India, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. These roles provide me the possibility to richly utilize the knowledge and skills I acquired in my university career.

I would like to thank Dr. Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, and Hon'ble Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, for enriching the Convocation with their presence. I also thank Shri Justice Arun Bhasali, Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, for conferring the honour on me.

I look back at my time at the University as a rich chapter, marked by intellectual growth, personal advancement and lasting friendships. I am proud to be an alumnus of this prestigious institution and remain committed to making significant contributions to society and the legal profession.
