Continental collaborates with Startup Nation Central (SNC)

Mumbai This is the first time Continental has recognized an innovative sustainable solution with a Climate Solutions Award. Biotique, a biotech start-up focusing on organic alternatives to plastics, prevailed in the “Pioneering Sustainable Materials” technical challenge presented by Continental in collaboration with Startup Nation Central (SNC). The winning solution is a new method that uses algae and seawater as raw materials to alter the properties of plastic. The resulting material has the potential to replace many existing fossil-based components and packaging in the automotive industry.

Regarding this, Gilles Mabire, CTO of Continental Automotive, said, sustainability is a strategic imperative in automotive development. “Part of our multifaceted approach to finding innovative sustainable solutions is to work with young, particularly agile and innovative companies. And we were impressed by Biotique's approach to full recycling throughout the material's entire life cycle. The winner of the Climate Solutions Award was announced during the final event on February 26, 2024.
