The workshop, inaugurated by the Director, CDRI, Dr. Radha Rangarajan, in her inaugural remark she highlighted the significance of flow cytometry as an indispensable tool in modern research endeavours. Dr. Rangarajan emphasized the importance of equipping students with advanced techniques like flow cytometry, which helps them in biomedical research. She said flow cytometry is instrumental in advancing our understanding of microbiology and metabolic diseases, offering researchers powerful tools for studying cellular processes, identifying therapeutic targets, and developing novel treatment strategies.

Dr. Derek Davies from The Francis Crick Institute, London graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the workshop. He is a luminary in the realm of flow cytometry with over three decades of pioneering contributions. Dr. Davies, renowned for his leadership in the field, offered profound insights into the intricacies of flow cytometry, its instrumentation, and diverse applications. Attendees were privileged to delve into topics ranging from setting up their own cytometers to advanced techniques such as multicolour immuno phenotyping, cell health analysis, proliferation, cell cycle, cell death and cell sorting.

The other distinguish dignitaries in the workshop were Rui Gardner, Head of Flow Cytometry Core Facility at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center USA, Karla Moncada Gorena, USA, Dr. H Krishnamurthy, Former Head Flow Facility NCBS Bangalore, Dr Rupesh Srivastava from AIIMS New Delhi, Dr. Vivek Tanavde, Ahmedabad University, Dr. Himanshu Tillu and Dr. Hemant Agrawal, both TETC, India.

Officials from Beckman-Coulter, ThermoFisher and Cytek Biosciences demonstrated the basic and advancement of flow cytometry. Beside this, Mrigank Srivastava, Sachin Kumar, Rahul Shukla and Dr. Neeraj Jain and Dr. Anil Gaikwad expert scientists from CSIR-CDRI provided and hands-on training to the participants during this two days' workshop. Almost seventy plus participants from all over India are getting benefit from this workshop.
