Kolkata. AlgoBharat's Road to Impact tour made its third stop at New Town Business Club in the vibrant city of Kolkata. Following the triumphant events in Delhi and Ahmedabad, this gathering held the promise of channelling blockchain's transformative potential to catalyse positive impact across India.
The gathering highlighted the remarkable talent within India's blockchain community and exemplified the potential of blockchain to drive solutions with real-world utility. Across the various Indian cities that it has travelled, this journey culminates in the ‘Creating Impact! Pitch Competition, which brought the Algorand developer relations team together with hundreds of enthusiastic Web3 teams who presented their ideas.
Led by Algorand Foundation’s Dr. Nikhil Varma, Ryan Fox and Joe Polny, the blockchain experts led workshops and one-on-one technical office hours to help shape and guide developers building blockchain solutions that advance the goals of financial inclusion, sustainability and social equity in today’s BHARAT.
Neha Roy, AlgoBharat Kolkata Ambassador, said, “Kolkata is making great strides in the Web3 and Blockchain ecosystem. The city’s top Web3 developers and startup teams showed up in full force at our August 24th event, all hungry for technical support and mentoring as they build their blockchain projects. Events like this that are substantive and focused on building real-world solutions are fueling the Web3 wave in India, especially when it comes to penetration in the Western part of the country.’
Anil Kakani- VP and India country head at Algorand Foundation, said, “The developers we are meeting and the solutions they are building are strong signs that India is at the epicentre of blockchain innovation. And I love that our AlgoBharat Road to Impact this past week coincided with India’s historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the south pole of the moon. You can see the inspiration in the eyes of these young developers – the confidence that we can overcome anything and accomplish whatever we put our minds to! These developers are building Web3 solutions that are helping farmers in Telangana restore the nutrients in their soil, that bring carbon credits to women in rural Gujarat, that allow artisans in Assam prove the authenticity of their work, and that empower large Indian corporations to be more sustainable in managing their supply chain. These are game changing solutions for India.”
Teams that advance to the next round of the competition will receive valuable mentorship, guidance, and technical support to build their Web3 solutions. This personalised attention underscores AlgoBharat's commitment to nurturing and empowering the next generation of innovators.
