RMLIMS Launches Advanced Pulmonary Medicine Unit in Lucknow

Lucknow: Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow, Demonstrated a key milestone on September 21, 2024, with the Introduction of its new Diagnostic and Interventional Pulmonary Medicine Unit. Led by Dr. Hemant Kumar, the unit introduces state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, such as body plethysmography and sleep studies, Dedicated to resolving pulmonary challenges with increased specificity.

During the launch, RMLIMS Director Prof. C.M. Singh emphasized the critical need for early diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), particularly in obese individuals. Sleep-related disorders, he stressed, often lead to severe complications like hypertension and cardiovascular issues. The unit's Sleep Lab will help detect and manage these conditions effectively through advanced sleep studies and CPAP therapy.

The newly established unit also boasts a Bronchoscopy and Thoracoscopy suite, crucial for diagnosing lung cancer and pleural diseases. Early detection of lung cancer, which is frequently misdiagnosed as tuberculosis, is now possible through bronchoscopy, ensuring timely treatment. The unit promises advanced pulmonary care to serve patients across Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
