Brij Behari Sahai and KP Inter College Claim Top Honors in Prayagraj Badminton Tournament

Prayagraj : The City North Sub-Division Badminton Championship for boys and girls concluded with fierce competition and memorable performances at the Major Ranjit Singh Sports Complex. Jointly organized by KP Inter College, St. Anthony’s Girls Inter College, and Vashistha Vatsalya Inter College, the tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 16 school teams across the zone.

Former Mayor and Acting President of the KP Trust, Chaudhari Jitendra Nath Singh, graced the event as the chief guest. Encouraging the young athletes, he emphasized the importance of discipline, dedication, and consistency in sports. He urged players to strive for excellence and bring laurels to their institutions at both state and national levels. The event was presided over by Principal Dr. Yogendra Singh and conducted seamlessly by Umesh Khare.

Competition Highlights
The tournament featured action-packed matches across Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories in both boys' and girls' divisions:

• Boys' Under-14: Brij Behari Sahai Inter College clinched the top spot, while KP Inter College finished as the runner-up.
• Boys' Under-17: KP Inter College dominated the division, winning both the singles and doubles titles, leaving Government Inter College (GIC) as the runner-up.
• Boys' Under-19: Jwala Devi Inter College secured the singles title with KP Inter College as runner-up. However, KP Inter College turned the tables in the doubles event to claim victory over Jwala Devi.

Girls' Division Performances

• Under-14: St. Anthony’s Girls Inter College secured first place, while Mary Wanamaker Girls Inter College finished second.
• Under-17: Mary Wanamaker grabbed the top spot, followed by Government Girls Inter College, Katra, in second place.
• Under-19: St. Anthony’s Girls Inter College bagged another victory, with KP Inter College taking the runner-up position.

The successful execution of the championship was supported by the efforts of Sonika Gupta, Brijesh Khare, Bahadur Rahman, Ved Rajpal, and Anand Sonkar, whose coordination ensured smooth play throughout the event.
