Mrunal Thakur Balances Telugu and Punjabi Cinema, Shares Insightful Experience
Mrunal Thakur reveals challenges and joys of shooting Telugu and Punjabi films simultaneously while mastering diverse languages and skills.

Mrunal explained how her daily routine involved toggling between learning Telugu and Punjabi lines, “After wrapping up one schedule of Dacoit, I immediately started rehearsals and preparations for Son of Sardaar 2. My mornings were dedicated to Telugu, while evenings were reserved for Punjabi. It genuinely felt like I had one foot in the South and the other in the North.” She expressed a newfound appreciation for the Punjabi language and culture, mentioning that she picked up several Punjabi words and admired its vibrant energy.
One of the standout experiences for Mrunal was learning to play the Dhol for Son of Sardaar 2. She reflected on the physical and emotional demands of mastering the instrument, saying, “Getting into this space was crucial for my portrayal. Though playing the Dhol was challenging, I truly enjoyed the process and even miss those days. It’s a heavy instrument requiring strength and rhythm, and I deeply respect all Dhol players. I’m grateful to my teachers for their patient guidance.”
In Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal portrays Rabia, a spirited Punjabi girl whose lively personality adds depth and charm to the film. Her expressive dialogue delivery, natural humor, and effortless chemistry with Ajay Devgn have won audience praise.
