Daan Utsav in Prayagraj: Kulbhaskar College Spreads Joy at Girls' Home with Donation Drive
Under Daan Utsav, Kulbhaskar Ashram PG College, Prayagraj donated food, stationery and daily essentials to girls at the Bal Bhawan residential home, with NSS volunteers playing a key role.
Prayagraj : Marking Daan Utsav (October 2-8), Kulbhaskar Ashram PG College in Prayagraj set an example of service and dedication by organising a donation programme at the residential Girls' Home Centre at Bal Bhawan. The initiative was held under the guidance of the college patron Chaudhary Raghvendra Nath Singh and Principal Prof. Geetanjali Maurya.
Funds were collected through contributions from the principal, teachers, staff and students. Using this money, the college family purchased food items, stationery, notebooks and books, pens and pencils, and other daily-use articles, which were then distributed among the girls staying at the home.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. Geetanjali Maurya said that service is a form of duty and hard work is a form of worship. She explained that the purpose of Daan Utsav is to nurture sensitivity among students and awaken a sense of responsibility towards society. She also underlined that the gift of education is among the greatest forms of charity.
The superintendent of the Girls' Home thanked the college family for the gesture. She said that such programmes boost the morale of the girls and help them feel connected with society, reminding them that they are not alone.
National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers played a special role in the event, helping with the arrangement and distribution of materials. Programme Officer of Daan Utsav, Prof. Shraddha Tiwari, expressed her gratitude to the principal, all faculty members, staff and students for their cooperation and contribution to the drive.
The distribution of essential items brought visible happiness to the girls, many of whom eagerly received books, stationery and other supplies. By the end of the programme, the smiles on the children's faces had made the entire effort truly meaningful.
Educators present said that such activities go beyond classroom learning, teaching students the value of compassion, giving and community service. The college said it would continue to organise similar social outreach programmes in the future to strengthen the bond between educational institutions and society.
