Airtel’s Anti-Fraud Measures Slash Cybercrime Losses by 70%
Airtel’s anti-fraud initiatives lead to a remarkable 70% reduction in financial losses for customers, as confirmed by I4C data.

Lucknow :Bharti Airtel has made significant strides in combating cybercrime, achieving a remarkable 68.7% reduction in financial losses for its customers and a 14.3% decrease in overall cybercrime incidents on its network. This impressive data, released by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, underscores the effectiveness of Airtel’s anti-fraud initiatives.
The analysis compares key cybercrime indicators from September 2024, before the implementation of Airtel’s advanced Fraud & Spam Detection Solution, to statistics from June 2025. Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, expressed his commitment to eradicating spam and financial fraud for customers. “In the past year, our AI-driven network solutions have detected over 48.3 billion spam calls and blocked 320,000 fraudulent links. While these numbers are significant, we view them as just the beginning of a much larger battle against digital threats,” said Vittal.
Airtel’s journey into anti-fraud measures began in September 2024 with the launch of India’s first AI-powered spam detection solution, designed to tackle the rampant issue of spam calls and messages. This pioneering initiative enables real-time alerts for customers regarding suspected spam communications. Following this, in May 2025, Airtel introduced the world’s first solution capable of detecting and blocking malicious links across all communication forms on its network, further solidifying its commitment to customer safety.
The seamless integration of these services, provided at no extra cost to all Airtel mobile and broadband subscribers, has played a crucial role in creating a safer digital environment. Vittal acknowledged the support from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Telecommunications in their shared goal of reducing cybercrime and fraud. He stated, “The encouraging data from the I4C validates our efforts and motivates us to continue collaborating with authorities to eliminate cyber threats.”
As Airtel moves forward, the company remains dedicated to innovating and investing heavily in anti-fraud technologies, striving to ensure that its networks are free from digital spam and scams. The findings from the I4C analysis serve as a testament to Airtel’s proactive measures and its unwavering commitment to customer protection in an increasingly digital world.
