Lucknow: Whenever it comes to the security of the country, the sacrifice of the Gorkha community is remembered first. A Gorkha delegation met India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence demanding the installation of a statue of the first Gorkha martyr fighter late Durgamalji in the state capital Lucknow. Mandal invited the Defense Minister for the football tournament to be held on the death anniversary of Major Durgamal, the first Gorkha martyr fighter. 

Also demanded the Defense Minister to install the statue of Shaheed Durgamal in Lucknow. President Balram Thapa said that the statue of the Gorkha hero It is installed in Parliament House. The Defense Minister assured the delegation that talks will be held with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in this regard and the statue of Martyr Durga Malji will be installed at the earliest.

Durga Mal, recruited in the Gorkha Rifles at the age of 18, is recognized as a strong pillar in the formation of the Azad Hind Fauj, which played a major role in the country's independence. In view of his commendable contribution in the expansion of Azad Hind Fauj, he was promoted as Major. In the memory of Durga Mal, who sacrificed his life for the country in the service of the country, the Gorkha Welfare Committee is constantly engaged in social welfare works. So that the coming generations get the message of service to the country.
