Lucknow: State Urban Development and Energy Minister Shri A.K. After Sharma ji gave strict instructions to the electricity department, it has now become easier for people to get electricity connections. Now the department has made it very easy for the consumers to get domestic or commercial connection/connection up to 50 kW/56 kVA load on LT network (up to 440 volt-03 phase).
Energy Minister Shri A.K. Sharma said that if the applicant's premises are at a distance of 40 meters or less from the last pole of the main LT line, then no amount will be charged to the applicant for the connection. The cost of the meter will have to be paid by the applicant. The applicant can bring the armored service cable himself, or the department will install the cable, and its cost along with the meter will be recovered by adding it to the next bill.
The Energy Minister said that if the applicant's premises are more than 40 meters away from the last pole of the LT line, then the applicant will have to bear the cost of developing the power system from the pole to the premises, the estimate of which will be made available. It is clarified that if the work of upgrading or increasing the capacity of the power system (transformer etc.) is necessary, it will be borne by the Discom only.
He said that regarding the new connection, it has also been made clear that no excuse will be accepted by the electrician for not giving the connection after the applicant has deposited the estimated amount or after completing the formalities.
The Energy Minister said that as per the intention of the state government, every applicant must be given an electricity connection. The decision of not giving connection due to any reason will be taken only at the level of Executive Engineer.
