BMW India's EV Milestone and the 4,000 km Charging Corridor

Lucknow / Gurugram : BMW Group India has not only cemented its position as the leader in the luxury electric vehicle (EV) segment but has also taken a monumental leap in revolutionizing India's e-mobility landscape. The company announced today that it has become the first luxury car manufacturer in the country to surpass the 5,000 EV deliveries milestone, a testament to its forward-thinking strategy and the growing appetite for sustainable luxury.

To commemorate this significant achievement, BMW Group India has inaugurated a pioneering 4,000-kilometer high-power charging corridor, a game-changer for long-distance electric travel in the country. This extensive network, stretching from the northernmost point of Jammu to the southern city of Madurai, promises to eliminate range anxiety and unlock a new era of seamless electric journeys for EV owners nationwide.

Speaking at the announcement, Mr. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, highlighted the company's commitment to building a comprehensive EV ecosystem. "This milestone is more than just a number; it is a clear reflection of our pioneering spirit in the premium EV market," Pawah stated. "We have focused on providing a 360-degree solution for our customers, from class-leading electric cars to a robust charging infrastructure and dedicated aftersales services. The new charging corridor is our way of ensuring that our customers can enjoy the 'Sheer Driving Pleasure' of a BMW EV without a second thought, no matter the distance."

The newly launched corridor features high-power charging stations at strategic intervals of approximately every 300 kilometers. The route intelligently connects major economic hubs and national highways, including Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hubbali, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Madurai. In a move that underscores its commitment to broader e-mobility adoption, BMW has made this charging network accessible to owners of all EV brands, not just its own.

The charging stations, operated in partnership with leading providers like Statiq and Zeon, boast impressive capacities ranging from 120kW to a staggering 720kW. The locations have been carefully chosen to be near public amenities, allowing drivers to grab a coffee or a meal while their vehicle charges, further enhancing the convenience of electric travel.

This initiative is a powerful addition to BMW’s existing charging ecosystem, which includes nearly 300 'Destination Chargers' at luxury hotels, resorts, and malls. Combined with a total of over 6,000 charging points available through strategic partnerships, BMW Group India is establishing one of the most comprehensive and user-friendly charging networks in the country. Customers can effortlessly locate and use these chargers via the MyBMW app, which offers live status updates and a unified payment gateway. The innovative 'BMW Charging Concierge' service also provides on-call assistance for route planning, further simplifying long journeys.

BMW's success is fueled by its diverse and attractive electric portfolio, which includes the likes of the BMW i7, iX, i5, i4, and the highest-selling BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase. This rich product lineup has helped the company maintain its leadership in luxury EV sales for the past three years. In the first half of 2025 alone, BMW and MINI EVs recorded a phenomenal 234% growth, with electric cars now constituting 18% of the group's total sales in India. This remarkable performance solidifies BMW Group India's position at the forefront of the country's sustainable luxury mobility revolution.
