Prayagraj : Marking a significant landmark in youth diplomacy and academic excellence, St. Joseph’s College organized the grand opening of the first edition of the St. Joseph’s College Model United Nations (SJCMUN). The event brought together student delegates, scholars, and distinguished guests to foster international parliamentary traditions, critical thinking, and structured debate on global challenges.

The ceremony commenced with the formal reception of the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh, alongside other eminent dignitaries. Following tradition, the inaugural session began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing wisdom and the pursuit of knowledge through constructive dialogue.

College Captain Anosh K. John led the assembly in prayer, seeking divine guidance and wisdom for the student representatives. The college choir performed an uplifting prayer song and a specially composed choir piece that resonated with the theme of unity and global harmony. In keeping with Josephian hospitality, Justice Singh was presented with a green sapling to symbolize environmental sustainability and growing wisdom.

A major highlight of the session was the unveiling of the official conference theme, accompanied by an engaging video highlighting pressing global issues scheduled for committee discussions.

Secretary-General's Address: Emphasized the importance of empathetic negotiation, critical analysis, and diplomatic consensus in modern global governance.

Executive Board Recognition: Members of the Executive Board were introduced and honored with mementos for their mentorship and expertise.

Cultural Performance: A graceful dance presentation showcased artistic expression and energy, adding to the ceremonial dignity.

Addressing the young gathering, Justice Saumitra Dayal Singh delivered an inspiring keynote speech drawing on his jurisprudence experience, legal integrity, and the necessity of international cooperation. He officially declared the inaugural edition of SJCMUN open. Following the announcement of procedural rules and parliamentary etiquette, student delegates proceeded to their respective committee sessions to initiate formal debates.
