Deputy CM Keshav Maurya Says Government Committed to Dignity and Economic Empowerment of Bansfor Community

Lucknow . Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday said the Centre and the state's double-engine government are working continuously for the dignity, self-respect and overall development of all sections of society, including the Bansfor community.

Addressing the grand convention of the Bansfor community (Dharkar, Bansfod, Basor) at Visvesvaraya Auditorium in Lucknow as chief guest, he said the government's core principle is "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" and that resolving the problems of every section without discrimination is its priority.

Thanking the organisers, Maurya said the large turnout, inside and outside the hall, showed that the community is aware of its rights and development. He congratulated the organisers on the success of the event.

Speaking of his rural background, the Deputy CM said he grew up among people from all walks of life and understands their problems. He added that as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh volunteer, he had always worked above caste and class divisions.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maurya said the country is moving towards a system that gives respect and opportunity to sections long denied their rightful place. He noted that the Prime Minister himself rose from a poor family to the nation's highest office and understands the pain of the poor and working classes.

Recalling Prayagraj Kumbh 2019, he said the Prime Minister honoured sanitation workers by washing their feet, sending the message that no one is untouchable and every kind of labour deserves respect. According to official government records, five sanitation workers were honoured in this way.

Maurya said the Swachh Bharat Mission has become a people's movement, stressing that cleanliness is not the duty of sanitation workers alone but the collective responsibility of every citizen. He added that programmes on service and cleanliness are being held nationwide to mark 25 years of the Prime Minister's public life.

Sharing personal experiences, he recalled living in a mud house with a thatched roof and plastic sheets and enduring leaking roofs during monsoon, which strengthened his resolve to change the lives of the poor.

He said efforts are underway to connect bamboo craft families with new technology, markets and jobs to raise incomes, and urged the community to pass their skills to the younger generation.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, MLC Dr. Lalji Prasad Nirmal, Assam State Safai Karamchari Commission chairman Baijnath Bansfod, and former MLA Ghanshyam Pironiya were among those present.
