Jaishankar will visit Korea and Japan next month on issues of regional and global importance

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar will make his first visit to Seoul on March 5-6 to participate in the 10th India-Republic of Korea Joint Commission Meeting (JCM).

22-02-2024. New delhi. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar will make his first visit to Seoul on March 5-6 to participate in the 10th India-Republic of Korea Joint Commission Meeting (JCM). During this, he will co-chair the meeting with his counterpart Cho Tae-yul.

During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will also meet the Indian community. According to the ministry, the India-Republic of Korea Special Strategic Partnership extends to diverse areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, defence, education, science and technology and culture. The JCM is expected to comprehensively review the entire gamut of bilateral cooperation and explore ways to further strengthen it. It will also provide an opportunity to both sides to exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

After this, the External Affairs Minister will visit Japan on March 6-8 to participate in the 16th India-Japan Foreign Minister Strategic Dialogue with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa. During this, both the Ministers will discuss issues of bilateral, regional and global importance and exchange views on cooperation for a free, open, inclusive, peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, in the last decade, the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan has deepened in areas such as defense and digital technology, semiconductor supply chain, clean energy, high speed rail, industrial competitiveness and connectivity.

External Affairs Minister's visit to Tokyo will provide strategic guidance to our functional cooperation in these areas.

The Republic of Korea and Japan are our two key partners and Jaishankar's visit will provide further impetus to the bilateral partnership and set the agenda for future cooperation.
