#Alexa Powers Nutrition Drive in Kanpur: 2,200+ Women and Children Learn Healthy Habits

Kanpur Nagar. Marking Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, the Sarv Samanvay Foundation joined hands with Amazon Alexa to bring a lively nutrition awareness drive to Kanpur Nagar. The campaign reached Anganwadi centres and government schools across the city, where the organisers held 10 Poshan Melas and 10 Poshan Pathshalas to spread practical health knowledge in a simple, engaging manner.

In total, more than 2,200 people took part in the initiative. This included over 700 pregnant and lactating women, along with more than 1,500 schoolchildren. Organisers said the aim was to reach families at the stage where good nutrition matters most: during pregnancy, early motherhood and childhood.

At the Poshan Melas, women were guided on preparing balanced meals using locally available, affordable foods. Health volunteers explained the importance of eating timely, nutritious food during pregnancy, and stressed the value of exclusive breastfeeding for newborns. Special attention was given to anaemia, a widespread concern among women and adolescent girls, with advice on iron-rich foods and regular health check-ups.

The Poshan Pathshalas focused on schoolchildren, who learned through interactive sessions rather than lectures. Using Alexa, students joined quizzes and question-answer games on food groups, healthy eating and cleanliness. The voice-based activities kept children curious and involved, helping them remember key messages with ease. Teachers noted that the technology-driven approach made nutrition lessons far more enjoyable.

Other topics covered during the sessions included menstrual hygiene, correct handwashing techniques and personal cleanliness. Adolescent girls received open, informative guidance on managing periods safely and hygienically, helping break the silence around the subject.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Richa Mishra, Director of the Foundation, said the campaign’s purpose was to deliver accurate health and nutrition information to women and children and encourage a healthier lifestyle in every household. She added that sustained awareness at the community level is essential to tackling malnutrition.
