PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate Lucknow's Gomti Nagar Railway Station, redeveloped at a total cost of Rs 385 crore
Lucknow/New Delhi. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate and dedicate to the nation about 2,000 railway infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 41,000 crore on 26th February at 12:30 pm via video conferencing.
Earlier, the Prime Minister has consistently stressed the importance of providing world-class facilities at railway stations. As a major step towards this effort, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. These stations, located in 27 states and union territories, will be redeveloped at a cost of more than Rs 19,000 crore.

These stations will act as 'city centres', uniting the two sides of the city together. Modern passenger amenities will be available at these stations. These include rooftop plazas, beautiful landscaping, inter-modal connectivity, better modern facades, children's play areas, kiosks, food courts etc. Also, they will be redeveloped environment and disabled friendly. . The design of these station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh, which has been redeveloped at a total cost of about Rs 385 crore. In view of the increasing number of passengers in future, arrival and departure facilities have been separated at this station. It connects both parts of the city. This centrally air-conditioned station has modern passenger amenities such as air concourse, congestion free circulation, food court and ample parking space in upper and lower basement.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of 1500 road overbridges and underpasses and dedicate it to the nation. These road overbridges and underpasses are located in 24 states and union territories. These projects have been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 21,520 crore. These projects will reduce congestion, increase safety and connectivity and improve the capacity and efficiency of rail travel.
