Head of ISKCON India, Guru Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj is No More
Lucknow. ISKCON Temple President Aparameya Shyam Prabhuji told that the appearance (birth) of the most revered Gopal Krishna Goswami Ji Maharaj took place on the day of Annada Ekadashi on August 14, 1944, Maharaj Ji was the senior most disciple among the disciples of Srila Prabhupada Ji, Maharaj Ji joined PepsiCo in 1966.
Used to look after Asia Pacific in the company. On June 01, 1968, Maharaj Ji's first meeting with Srila Prabhupada was in Montreal, Canada. In Canada, he was given the service of cleaning Srila Prabhupada's room by the temple president and that service was given to him by Maharaj Ji. He had done it very well and expressed his desire to serve Srila Prabhupada in the future as well. Seeing his desire and spirit of service, Prabhupada ji gave him continuous services.
In 1974, he appointed Srila Prabhupada Ji Maharaj as his personal secretary and GBC in India. Maharaj Ji successfully propagated and distributed Prabhupada Ji's texts widely. Maharaj ji widely propagated Krishna consciousness in India including Russia, America, France, Britain and many other countries.
At the age of 80, you continued to carry forward Prabhupada ji's mission successfully till the end. Maharaj ji had slipped while bathing in Dehradun on 02 May 2024 and also had a heart attack, when his condition became critical, he was fitted with a pace maker, stents were inserted and finally surgery was done and today 05 May 2024 on Dwadashi at 08:20 am. But Maharaj ji breathed his last and left for Golok Dham.
