General Manager of Northern Railway, while reviewing the work progress, stressed on improving passenger facilities.
New Delhi. Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager, Northern Railway, along with the Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of Northern Railway, reviewed the work progress of Northern Railway today at the Head Office, Baroda House, New Delhi.
In the meeting, discussions were held on providing passenger amenities like expansion of platforms at stations, increase in level of platforms, provision of washable aprons, second entry gate, foot-over bridges, escalators, lifts for disabled persons, improvement of station building including entrance gate. Was done. He also reviewed mobility enhancement, developmental infrastructure, freight loading and safety on railway tracks.
Shri Chaudhuri stressed the need for better management of manpower and crew. He directed to maintain better records of punctuality of trains and to speed up the works related to increasing mobility and to run a campaign to check the progress of the works. He reviewed the work being done on the zone to improve the maintenance standards of tracks and welds and to remove scrap lying near the tracks. The General Manager took stock of the work of pruning trees and clearing vegetation growing around the railway tracks.
Shri Choudhuri stressed on reducing human failures in railway operations and intensive monitoring of rail cracks and rail welds. He said that there should be no error in these works. He asked the officials to increase inspections related to the progress of works and railway operations. Northern Railway is committed to providing safe, convenient and better services to its users.
