Ambedkar Nagar: Vijayadashami was celebrated with great fervour and devotion at the NTPC Tanda residential township. A grand Ravana effigy burning, a dazzling fireworks display, a live Ramlila staging and Durga Puja rituals turned the entire campus into a hub of festivity.
Large crowds of NTPC officers, employees, their families and villagers from surrounding areas gathered at the Ramlila ground on Tuesday, October 20, to witness the climax of the festivities.
Project Head Rajeev Kumar Sinha set the towering effigy of Ravana ablaze by pressing a remote button. As flames engulfed the figure, the whole venue resounded with chants of “Jai Shri Ram.” A spectacular fireworks show followed, lighting up the night sky and adding to the grandeur of the event. Spectators greeted the moment with applause and cheers, rejoicing in the victory of truth over falsehood.
Addressing the gathering, Sinha extended Vijayadashami greetings to the residents of the district and prayed for happiness, peace and prosperity for all. He said the festival inspires people to walk the path of truth, righteousness and virtue. According to him, the life of Lord Rama stands as a symbol of ideals, dignity, sacrifice and devotion to duty.
He added that the occasion carries a message to shed the evils within and embrace goodness. Sinha also praised the efforts of the Ramlila organising committee, the artists and everyone associated with the event, whose dedication made the celebrations a success.
Among those present were General Manager (Operation and Maintenance) Subhash Kumar Singh, Additional General Manager (Human Resources) Rajnish Kumar Khetan, and Garima Mahila Mandal president Vineeta Sinha, along with members of the Mandal and several senior NTPC officials.
All participants took part in the religious and cultural programme, adding to its charm. The event once again highlighted the bond of community harmony and tradition that NTPC Tanda shares with the people of the region, as families, colleagues and neighbours came together in a spirit of unity and joy. The evening ended with smiles, blessings and festive cheer all around.
