Arsh City Residents Revive Ravana Dahan Tradition, Pledge Unity and Development Together
Arsh City Residents Welfare Society burned a Ravana effigy in Lucknow, keeping tradition alive and pledging equality, unity and shared development, with residents of Keshavpuram also joining the celebration.
Lucknow: Residents of Arsh City, under the banner of the Arsh City Residents Welfare Society, once again burned a Ravana effigy this year, vowing that goodness will prevail over evil and that the neighbourhood will move ahead as one community. The effigy was set alight at 9 pm.
The tradition nearly paused. During a Mata Ki Chowki held four days earlier, committee members discussed the matter and noted that several people who usually build the effigy were going out of town. It was therefore suggested that this year’s event be put off.
However, Arsh City resident Abhishek Gupta and his companions urged everyone to continue the custom. They argued that the effigy could be smaller in size, but the event must go ahead as in every previous year. All members agreed with the appeal.
Jitendra Kumar, Somdutt, Ajay Saini, Sagar Saini, Surya, Harshit, Laddu, Abhinav Gupta (Parul) and Ankul Gupta (Golu) joined hands and completed the effigy in just two days through mutual cooperation.
At the time of the burning, a good number of people from both Arsh City and Keshavpuram were present. Together they watched the effigy go up in flames, and the venue echoed with devotional cheers.
Following the ceremony, all those gathered pledged to take everyone in the locality along, irrespective of background or section of society. They resolved that no person would be treated as big or small, and that everyone would work shoulder to shoulder for the complete development of the area. Participants said this spirit of equality and cooperation would be the true worship of Lord Rama.
The programme concluded with light refreshments and a loud chorus of “Jai Shri Ram.” Residents said the effort showed how a small neighbourhood, despite limited manpower and time, can keep its traditions alive when people stand together. The gathering ended on a warm note, with neighbours exchanging greetings and promising to support each other in future community activities as well.
