NCR Revolutionizes Healthcare with Targeted Welfare Drive for Contractual Workers

Prayagraj : Placing the health, safety, and overall well-being of its workforce at the forefront, North Central Railway (NCR) has rolled out a series of groundbreaking health and welfare initiatives under the motto "Swasth Karmachari, Swasth Railway" (Healthy Employee, Healthy Railway). Guided by the compassionate leadership of General Manager Naresh Pal Singh, this comprehensive movement specially targets contractual workers, sanitation personnel (Safai Mitras), and station staff—a group that traditionally faces barriers in accessing preventative healthcare and routine medical advice.

To bridge this crucial healthcare gap, NCR brought medical facilities directly to the workplace. Dedicated screening camps were organized across various stations, workshops, and sheds to conduct essential diagnostic tests, including screenings for diabetes, hypertension, and hemoglobin levels. This proactive approach ensures early detection and prompt treatment of health issues. Simultaneously, NCR initiated a robust, localized drive to issue Ayushman Cards to all contractual workers, securing their long-term medical coverage.

In addition to medical screenings, the initiative strongly emphasizes workplace safety and dignity. Contractual staff and Safai Mitras were provided with complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits, high-grade safety masks, and essential protective gear tailored for sanitation and maintenance operations. Recognizing the importance of holistic well-being, interactive sessions covering stress management, yoga, relaxation techniques, and nutritional guidance were also conducted.

To build an empowered workforce capable of handling emergencies, NCR organized hands-on CPR demonstrations and first-aid training. A specially curated first-aid manual, published in the local language, was distributed among workers and the general public to promote life-saving knowledge. Furthermore, under the Swachhata Hi Seva and Swachhata Pakhwada campaigns, NCR spearheaded extensive sanitation and solid waste management initiatives, introducing a four-bin waste segregation system (green, blue, red, and black) across railway colonies and stations.
