Girls hostel built in Kathmandu with financial assistance from India inaugurated

Kathmandu. Mangala Devi Singh Memorial Girls Hostel building built at Sri Padmakanya Madhyamik Vidyalaya located in Delhibazaar, Kathmandu with financial assistance from the Government of India was inaugurated.

According to a statement from the Indian High Commission in Kathmandu, the hostel has been constructed at a total project cost of 3.23 crore Nepalese rupees under Nepal-India Development Cooperation. It was jointly inaugurated on Monday by Avinash Kumar Singh, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and Santosh Budhathoki, head of the District Coordination Committee of Kathmandu.

The embassy said the Government of India grant has been used to construct a four-storey hostel building with 39 rooms and other facilities including kitchen, dining hall, store room, warden room, guard room, visitor room, office room, library, multipurpose hall, waiting area, green room, laundry, toilets, bathrooms, solar backup system at Mangala Devi Singh Memorial Girls Hostel of Padmakanya Madhyamik Vidyalaya.

This project was started as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) under the agreement on High Impact Community Development Projects between the Government of India and the Government of Nepal. Since the year 2003, the Government of India has started more than 551 HICDPs in various sectors in Nepal and 490 of these projects have been completed. During the program, the head of the District Coordination Committee and the Chairman of the School Management Committee appreciated the continuous cooperation of the Government of India in the education sector of Nepal.

India is continuously supporting the neighboring country in strengthening the basic infrastructure in various sectors of Nepal including education and health under its 'Neighbor First' policy. Last week, two school buildings were inaugurated in Dang district of Nepal with the economic assistance of India. Along with this, recently the Government of India has gifted 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to various hospitals and educational institutions of Nepal.
