The government's approach during India's G20 presidency has been to portray India's rich heritage, culture, and diversity. This has been seen in every G20 meeting before the summit, with delegations being taken to local cultural sites and served regional cuisine. Additionally, G20 meetings were held across the country to showcase India's cultural diversity, covering every region.
This diversity and cultural richness is also being displayed in the welcome given to each head of a delegation arriving in New Delhi for the grand G20 Summit. On Friday, cultural artists from various states welcomed Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Mellon, with whom the Italian PM also posed for photographs. Various cultural performances were witnessed by Argentine President Alberto Fernandez and WTO Director-General, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva was seen grooving to Sambalpuri tunes and was welcomed with traditional folk dance by the dancers. Education Minister and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted, It is difficult to resist Sambalpuri beats. International Monetary Fund Managing Director @KGeorgieva arrived in India for the G20 summit, where she was welcomed with Sambalpuri song and dance.
UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy were welcomed with a performance by Bihu dancers, as they were welcomed by Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
