Varanasi Student Leverages AI to Tackle India's Document Literacy Gap in Samsung Innovation Drive

Varanasi . Navigating complex legal contracts, financial agreements, and official paperwork often leaves individuals with limited literacy dependent on third parties. Aiming to dismantle this accessibility barrier, Abhinav Jaiswal, a young innovator originally from Ballia and currently based in Varanasi, is developing an artificial intelligence solution designed to simplify legal language before people sign critical documents.

What began as an observation of everyday struggles in small-town India has now propelled Jaiswal’s initiative, Team ItzFOD, into the Top 20 of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 national innovation program. The flagship initiative provides young creators with technical mentorship and strategic exposure to transform early-stage concepts into scalable real-world solutions.

Participating in the national bootcamp shifted Jaiswal’s focus from core technical mechanics to human-centered design. Mentored by experts from Samsung and the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi, he refined his pitch and overall strategy.

"My idea needed guidance and mentorship on the prototype," Jaiswal said, noting that his core takeaway was learning to connect a narrative to technology. "I realized that trying is the most important thing. No idea is smaller."

Jaiswal's narrative mirrors a broader demographic shift within India’s startup ecosystem. Over half of this year’s Top 20 finalists originate from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, spanning 18 cities across 12 states. These innovators are addressing Hyper-local challenges using advanced technologies like AI, machine learning, and STEM frameworks.

While still in the developmental phase, Team ItzFOD highlights how grassroots innovation—when paired with structured mentorship—can turn local problem-solving into viable ventures capable of driving large-scale societal impact.
