B.A.B.Ed. students at Allahabad University launched a 12-month, 12-language Digital Cultural and Festive Calendar to promote inclusive learning, cultural empathy, and national unity through experiential teacher education.
Prayagraj : In a creative step toward fostering national integration and cultural awareness, B.A.B.Ed. students from the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), Department of Education, University of Allahabad, have developed and launched an innovative Digital Cultural and Festive Calendar. Designed to equip prospective educators with an understanding of India’s rich pluralism, the initiative explores the country’s diverse regional traditions, languages, and community heritage.

Beginning with Bengali in October and Tamil in November, the calendar spans a wide spectrum of regional tongues, including Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, and Punjabi. In addition to major regional cultures, the students researched and incorporated traditions from various linguistic and religious minority communities, bringing lesser-known grassroots celebrations to light.
Developed in both digital and handmade formats under the mentorship of Dr. Manish Kumar Gautam, the project merges academic research, digital technology, and collaborative art. Dr. Gautam emphasized that future teachers must cultivate cultural sensitivity to work effectively in multi-ethnic classrooms across the nation.
Commending the initiative, Prof. Saroj Yadav, Head of the Department of Education, noted that such activities transform textbook concepts like "Unity in Diversity" into living experiences. Former Department Head Prof. Dhananjai Yadav added that direct participation in cross-cultural research offers future educators a meaningful, empathetic foundation for their teaching careers.
