UP Governor Launches 'Samsung Innovation Campus 2026' to Skill 5,000 Youth in AI
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel launched 'Samsung Innovation Campus 2026' at Agra, enabling free hands-on AI and Generative AI training for 5,000 UP youth as part of a national skill initiative.
The grand launch ceremony took place at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, attended by SP Chun, Corporate Vice President of Samsung South West Asia; Prof. Ashu Rani, University Vice Chancellor; senior academicians; and nearly 900 students. The initiative follows a launch event in Lucknow on September 29, graced by Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari.
Hands-on Knowledge in AI and Design Thinking
The Samsung Innovation Campus curriculum combines theoretical concepts with practical exposure. Participants will work on hands-on capstone project tutorials, benefit from industry expert mentorship, and receive training in soft skills and design thinking to enhance overall employability.
Highlighting the vision behind the launch, Governor Anandiben Patel stated, "AI will shape our future economies and societies. It is crucial that our youth possess the skills and confidence to participate in this transformation—not merely as consumers, but as creators and innovators."
Echoing these sentiments, Higher Education Cabinet Minister Yogendra Upadhyay noted that UP is forging an ecosystem linking academia directly to modern industry demands. SP Chun added that as Samsung completes 30 years in India, democratizing tech opportunities remains a core commitment.
UP Accounts for 25% of Samsung’s National Target
With over 8,000 youth already skilled under previous cohorts in UP, the 2026 target of 5,000 students represents 25% of Samsung’s national goal to train 20,000 youth across 10 states. Implemented in collaboration with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), the global program targets individuals aged 18 to 25.
