Samsung Reshapes Youth Innovation in Uttar Pradesh
Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow workshop in UP trains young innovators to master problem-solving before building tech prototypes.
Lucknow : In the student innovation landscape, a common pitfall persists: engineering brilliant solutions for problems that do not actually exist. Seeking to disrupt this trend, Samsung India, in partnership with IIT Delhi, recently hosted an immersive Design Thinking Workshop at the GNIOT Group of Institutions in Greater Noida.
The initiative is a core component of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026, a nationwide program challenging youth aged 14 to 22 to tackle pressing issues in AI, healthcare, education, sustainability, and sports tech. Rather than pushing immediate coding or product development, the workshop urged participants from across Uttar Pradesh to step back, question assumptions, and validate real-world needs before building prototypes.
"We often assume an idea is good simply because it sounds innovative," noted Kabir Singh, a third-year student at GNIOT. "The workshop helped us understand how implementation, feasibility, and user needs are just as important as the idea itself."
This human-centered approach aligns with a broader shift in India's evolving startup ecosystem, which increasingly prioritizes grassroots problem identification over pure technical execution.
Scaling Impact Nationwide
The 2026 edition represents the largest expansion of the program yet, scaling active Design Thinking Workshops across 100 cities nationwide. Beyond conceptual training, the initiative provides young minds with critical tools for success, including:
- Direct mentorship from industry experts
- Prototyping support and technical guidance
- A pathway to transform early-stage ideas into scalable businesses
The program will culminate in a high-stakes finale where the top four winning teams will receive incubation grants worth INR 2 crore at IIT Delhi to scale their ventures.
For aspiring changemakers ready to shift their perspective from product-building to true problem-solving, applications for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 remain open until July 3, 2026.
