FUPUCTA Calls for Statewide Protests Over Unresolved Higher Education Issues in Uttar Pradesh
The Federation of UP University and College Teachers’ Associations (FUPUCTA) announces black-ribbon protests from Nov 2 to 4 and memoranda submissions on Nov 5 against government apathy.
Prayagraj : The Federation of Uttar Pradesh University and College Teachers' Associations (FUPUCTA) held an executive body meeting at Prof. Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University, Prayagraj, to address pressing issues surrounding higher education in the state. Attended by representatives from nearly 17 universities across Uttar Pradesh, the meeting saw office-bearers express deep concern and anger over the government's perceived apathy toward educators and academic institutions.
Unanimously deciding to launch a phased movement, FUPUCTA called upon faculty members across 331 aided colleges in Uttar Pradesh to wear black ribbons from November 2 to November 4, 2026, while carrying out their duties to protest the government's inaction and raise awareness through the media.
Following the initial three-day demonstration, college teachers across the state will gather on November 5, 2026, to submit a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through their respective District Magistrates. Association leaders warned that if the government fails to take positive steps following these demonstrations, the next phase of the agitation will be announced immediately.
The executive body emphasized that while the organization has always favored dialogue, the continuous neglect of teachers' welfare cannot be tolerated. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Virendra Singh Chauhan and conducted by Prof. Pradeep Singh. Key attendees included KUTA President Prof. V.D. Pandey, Prof. Awadhesh Singh, LUACTA President Dr. Shashikant Rao, Dr. Archana Dixit, Dr. Vijay Singh, Dr. Shailendra Singh, Dr. Amit Rai, PRASUACTA President Prof. P.K. Pachouri, Dr. Vipin Kumar, along with presidents, general secretaries, and delegates from participating universities.
