Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited Akshayavat and Saraswati Koop in Prayagraj, offering prayers for national prosperity.

Prayagraj: Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the sacred pilgrimage sites of Akshayavat and Saraswati Koop in Prayagraj during her stay in the city. She was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi. During this spiritual visit, she offered prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the nation.
Highlighting the religious and cultural importance of Akshayavat, Sitharaman stated that the sacred tree has been a symbol of unwavering faith and eternal spiritual consciousness. "For centuries, devotees have sought divine blessings here, experiencing inner peace and enlightenment," she remarked.
The Akshayavat, revered in Hindu tradition, is considered an indestructible and everlasting entity representing Sanatan Dharma’s unbroken spiritual legacy. Legends associate it with ancient sages and saints who meditated beneath its divine shade, seeking higher wisdom and salvation.
Later, Sitharaman visited Saraswati Koop, a revered site believed to be connected to the mythical Saraswati River, which remains invisible yet spiritually significant. She paid homage to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of wisdom, knowledge, and learning, and prayed for India's intellectual and academic growth.
Her visit reaffirmed the strong connection between India’s cultural heritage and governance, highlighting how leaders draw inspiration from sacred sites to guide national progress. The presence of Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi further emphasized the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to preserving and promoting the state’s rich religious heritage.
