Ambedkar Nagar Gears Up for a Historic National Handball Championship
Nation's top teams to clash in Ambedkar Nagar’s first grand handball championship with day-night matches and cultural events.

District Magistrate and Event Chairperson Avinash Singh has issued strict directives to ensure that all preparations are completed on time. Emphasizing the importance of the event, he described it as a historic and unprecedented milestone for the district, as this is the first time Ambedkar Nagar is hosting a national-level handball competition.
To ensure seamless execution, the administration has formed multiple dedicated committees, including coordination, invitation, hospitality, security and law enforcement, protocol, accommodation, media, transportation, ground management, sanitation, medical support, booklet administration, news, cultural programs, prize distribution, and publicity. Each committee has been assigned specific responsibilities with clear deadlines.
In keeping with the spirit of "Atithi Devo Bhava", Singh has instructed teams to be given the finest facilities—from welcoming ceremonies to proper arrangements for food, water, lodging, and resting spaces. He also laid special emphasis on the day-night match preparations, urging all departments to complete the technical and logistical arrangements with precision.
The event will kick off with a grand opening ceremony, graced by the presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Girish Chandra Yadav, adding political prominence to the sporting spectacle. A cultural program is also scheduled during the inauguration, reflecting the vibrant heritage of the region.
The closing ceremony promises to be equally majestic, with the winning teams being honored with cash prizes for the first time in the history of this category. This gesture aims to boost morale and promote competitive spirit among young athletes.
Teams from across the country, representing states and academies such as Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and elite academies like Mumbai Handball Academy, Yashasvi Academy, Sports Castle, Aryavarta, SN Pandey Academy, and more will participate in the championship.
As the district transforms into a vibrant hub of youth sports and national spirit, Ambedkar Nagar is not just hosting a tournament — it's embracing a vision of excellence, unity, and athletic pride. The stage is set, and the countdown has begun for one of the most anticipated handball events of 2025.
